I grew up in Vulcan, Alberta and invited Christ into my heart at six years old with the help of my mother at my parents’ bedside. The next pivotal moment in my life came when, in our little evangelical church, a missionary invitation moved me to surrender my life to God fully and invite Him to do whatever He wanted with my life. Little did I know what that commitment would mean in the following years!
I learned a lot about ministry and leadership in Campus Crusade while doing my undergrad. After finishing my bachelor’s degree, God led me to serve Him for two years helping the churches of Burkina Faso with famine relief and development. I met and married Lori, a city girl from Miami, and then earned an MBA in Calgary with a view to serving as lay missionaries overseas. That led us, as a family, to tentmaking missions in Venezuela, then bi-vocational pastoring in a struggling inner city church Miami for five years. Later, while teaching business at Simpson University, we spent a half year sabbatical serving in Hanoi, Vietnam, and in Hong Kong.
Along the way we welcomed four lovely daughters who follow Jesus. We are so thankful for His grace and mercy, in our very imperfect parenting and broken world, that this has been possible. My main ministry since 2003 has been to the students I have come into contact with as a professor, first at Simpson University in Redding (Calif.), then Trinity Western University in Langley BC, and now here at Prairie College. I have not been an elder since our time in Venezuela but I pray He will use us for His Kingdom here at Prairie Tabernacle, to impact Three Hills, the surrounding communities, and far beyond.
