Our Core Values
Prairie Tabernacle is a passionate body of Believers devoted to the worship of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Properly defined, worship is an appropriate response of all that we are and have to who God is, what He has done, and what He expects of His people. This document describes the core values of our congregation that flow out of an earnest desire to honor, obey, and serve our great God. These answer the question, œWhat matters most to us? They represent the constant, fervent, biblical, core beliefs that drive our ministry.
We value an uncompromising commitment to the Old and New Testament Scriptures as God’s authoritative Word upon which we seek to build our entire life and ministry (2 Timothy 3:14-17).
Our message and ministries will be derived from and based on the Bible. We want this commitment to be evident in all that we do”in the sermons we preach, in the Gospel we proclaim, in the songs we sing, in the ways we serve, in the lives we live.
PRAYER & INTIMACY
We value that Christianity is a vital relationship with God that is to be pursued, enjoyed, and developed through the public and private disciplines of prayer and Scripture (John 15:1-11).
We maintain that Christianity is not merely a set of rituals to be performed. It is a real connectedness with the Lord Jesus through the Holy Spirit. Christ is the source of our strength. Apart from Him we can do nothing. As such, we desire joyful intimacy with God by devoting ourselves to the ministry of the Word and prayer. We will give ourselves, individually and corporately, to the practice of the spiritual disciplines by which we bring ourselves before God, experience Him, and are changed into His likeness.
We value intentional and continual growth in every believer so that we are increasingly conformed to the image and likeness of our Lord Jesus Christ (Rom 12:1-2).
We will deliberately pursue life-on-life relationships with other Believers for the sake of mutual growth, encouragement, and accountability. We want the beliefs we hold, the words we say, the emotions we feel, the things we do, and the relationships we embrace to be pleasing to our Lord.
We value the bold proclamation of the Gospel in Three Hills and abroad and will use God-honouring means to win and grow the lost to maturity in Christ (1 Corinthians 9:19-23).
The Gospel of Jesus Christ and His sacrifice remains central to who we are and what we do. We will not keep silent about it. We will take risks. We will continuously proclaim Gospel truth and lovingly reach out to those who have not responded to the free gift of salvation. We will pursue the lost in our own community. We will also seek to reach those who are far away through cross-cultural missions.
We value nurturing the family as one of God’s primary means of advancing the Christian faith and as an essential pillar of a healthy society (Deut 6:6-7).
We live in a day and age where the Christian faith and family values are under attack. We will seek to create an atmosphere that strengthens families, not diminishes them. We will uphold marriage as the union of one man and one woman. We will encourage each husband to humbly serve as the spiritual head of the family, partnering with his wife to cultivate the bond with their children. We will endeavor to equip the family to be a place of spiritual growth, encouragement, and service. We embrace single adults and those in broken relationships and will seek to include them fully in the fellowship of the church.
We value the cultivation of authentic and meaningful relationships within the body of Christ where unity, love, and forgiveness are lived out (Acts 2:41-47).
We want to be a joyful place where people not only spend time together but do life together. We want to live in a place without pretense or falsehood. We want to be real. We will be a place where grace is given and the truth is told; a place where people are knowing and being known, loving and being loved, serving and being served, celebrating and being celebrated.
We value biblically qualified leadership that loves, leads, nurtures, warns, disciplines, and cares for people (1 Peter 5:1-5).
We will call pastors and raise up wise elders who model Christlike character, competence in ministry, and a commitment to the growth of God™s people. We will develop leaders from our midst who will serve the flock and not self. We desire to submit ourselves to their leadership. We will encourage them so that they will not grow weary in doing good.
We value the gifts and abilities of each person and we encourage and expect active participation in the work of the ministry (Eph 4:11-16).
As members of the Body of Christ we are to be active participants, not passive bystanders. We will seek to discover the gifts, passions, and talents that God has granted every believer in our congregation. We will purposely develop those unique gifts through training and use them in a manner best suited for the growth and development of the Body as a whole, in love.
We value the pursuit of excellence and creativity in all that we do (Col 3:17).
Because God the Father offered His most perfect and precious Gift, He deserves the best of all we are and have. We recognize that none of us are perfect. Yet, we will seek to use the gifts and talents God has given us and to grow, develop, and strive for quality. We will embrace innovative approaches to ministry that are God-honouring. We will work towards a high level of sustained ministry excellence and effectiveness.
We value what God is doing outside of our church and will welcome, support, and partner with people and organizations having similar goals and values (Rom 16:1-2).
We recognize that our church is only one small part of God’s universal Church. We long to hear of God’s working in like-minded organizations and contribute to what He is doing locally and globally. We invite our Brothers and Sisters in Christ to share of His marvelous works and will collaborate with them as God leads.
